1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Odyssey Player. These Terms of Use ("Terms", "Agreement") constitute a legally binding agreement between You ("User", "you", or "your") and Odyssey Workshop / Odyssey Player ("Odyssey Player", "We", "Our", or "Us"), governing your download, installation, access, and use of the Odyssey Player application across mobile and supported platforms, along with our official website located at www.odysseyplayer.site (collectively, the "Services").

Please review these Terms carefully in conjunction with our Privacy Policy. By installing, copying, opening, or utilizing Odyssey Player in any manner, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by all terms, conditions, and notices set forth herein. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install, access, or use the Services, and immediately remove the application from your devices.

2. Description of Services & Architecture

Odyssey Player provides local hardware-accelerated media decoding (via Media3 / ExoPlayer on Android and AVPlayer on iOS), network streaming & IPTV playlist parsing, 7.1 binaural spatial audio DSP, gesture controls, and biometric library protection. Key features include:

• Local Offline Media Playback: High-definition playback engine supporting popular media containers (MP4, MKV, AVI, WEBM, MOV, FLV, 3GP) stored on internal storage or SD cards.
• Network Streaming & IPTV Engine: Direct playback of user-provided network streams over HTTP, HTTPS, HLS (.m3u8), MPEG-DASH (.mpd), RTSP, and RTMP protocols, including automatic parsing of M3U/M3U8 playlists with channel logos and category grouping.
• 7.1 Spatial Audio & Soundstage Canvas: Native Kotlin DSP engine rendering binaural 3D audio, virtual surround sound, room acoustics (Studio, Cinema, Concert Hall, Stadium), and an interactive 3D vector soundstage canvas.
• No Remote Content Hosting: Odyssey Player does not operate video streaming servers, does not broadcast television channels or movie catalogs, and does not provide IPTV subscriptions.
• External File Explorer & Intent Integration: Ability to launch and play media directly from third-party file managers, cloud storage apps, and browser download managers via standard content:// and file:// intent URIs.
• Biometric App Lock & Privacy Overlay: Hardware-backed biometric authentication (fingerprint, Touch ID, Face ID) and automatic screen obfuscation to prevent unauthorized access to the application.

3. License Grant & Restrictions

3.1 Limited License

Subject to your ongoing compliance with these Terms, Odyssey Player grants you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and royalty-free limited license to install and execute the application on compatible personal devices solely for your personal, non-commercial entertainment and media playback.

3.2 License Restrictions

You expressly agree not to, directly or indirectly:

• Decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, decrypt, or attempt to derive the source code of Odyssey Player, except to the extent permitted by applicable open-source component licenses.
• Modify, adapt, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, resell, lease, sublicense, or commercially exploit any portion of the software.
• Bypass, Circumvent, disable, or tamper with any technical protection mechanisms, biometric locks, license checks, or digital rights controls built into the application.
• Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary copyright, trademark, or legal notices displayed within the application.
• Use any automated scraping, data extraction tools, robots, or automated scripts to query our online endpoints or web services.

4. User Content & IPTV Disclaimer

You retain full, unencumbered ownership and intellectual property rights over any videos, audio files, subtitles, or network stream links ("User Content") rendered using Odyssey Player.

• User Legal Responsibility: You are solely and exclusively responsible for the legality, licensing, copyright compliance, and safety of all local media files and IPTV/M3U stream URLs processed or decoded through the application.
• IPTV & Network Streams Disclaimer: Odyssey Player is strictly a playback client. We do not sell IPTV subscriptions, do not supply stream URLs, and do not endorse any third-party IPTV providers. You warrant that you hold lawful authorization or public domain rights for all stream feeds loaded into the software.
• No Content Monitoring: Because Odyssey Player operates locally on your device, we do not monitor, inspect, filter, upload, or log the private contents of your offline video libraries or stream lists.

5. User Accounts & Session Management

5.1 Guest Mode & Account Access

You may use Odyssey Player in Guest Mode with full access to local playback, gesture controls, and directory indexing without creating or signing into an account. Account registration (via email 6-digit OTP or Google Sign-In) is required only to purchase an Odyssey Plus membership or access synchronized account services.

5.2 Persistent Sessions & Credential Security

When signed in, Odyssey Player securely maintains your active login state locally via encrypted user session tokens (JWTs). You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and your device against unauthorized physical or digital access.

5.3 Selective Logout & Cache Clearing

When you log out, the application immediately purges all user-specific account tokens, session data, and cached profile details from device storage. Your hardware and interface settings (such as theme mode, spatial audio presets, and gesture configurations) remain safely preserved on your device.

6. Acceptable Use Policy & Conduct

You agree to use Odyssey Player and its connected online services only for lawful purposes. You shall not:

• Use the Services in any way that violates any applicable local, state, national, or international law or regulation.
• Interfere with, disrupt, overload, or compromise the integrity, bandwidth, or security of our official servers, website, or network endpoints.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our authentication services, billing verification API endpoints, or user databases.
• Transmit or introduce viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs, or other malicious or technologically harmful materials.

7. Device Permissions & Hardware Acceleration

To provide high-performance playback, Odyssey Player requests permission to utilize specific operating system capabilities:

• Storage & Media Access: Required to discover, catalog, index, and play media files located in local storage and external SD cards.
• Hardware Acceleration & Codec Boost: Engages device GPU and native chipset decoders (Media3 / ExoPlayer and AVPlayer) for 8K 120FPS HDR decoding, battery efficiency, and smooth high-definition playback.
• Biometric Subsystem: Enables fingerprint or facial recognition authentication via your device's native secure hardware enclave to prevent unauthorized access to the application.
• Background Audio & PiP: Enables audio to continue playing when the application is minimized or the screen is locked, and floating Picture-in-Picture windowing.

8. Subscriptions, Zero-Trust Billing & Ads

8.1 Odyssey Plus Subscription Tiers

Odyssey Player operates on a freemium model. Core offline media playback and gesture controls are provided free of charge. Users may purchase an optional recurring subscription ("Odyssey Plus") to unlock premium capabilities, including a 100% ad-free experience, 8K 120FPS HDR decoding boost, lossless 7.1 spatial audio & DSP soundstage canvas, floating Picture-in-Picture (PiP), and biometric app lock security.

• Odyssey Plus Weekly: Billed at $1.99 USD per week, featuring a 3-day complimentary free trial.
• Odyssey Plus Monthly: Billed at $4.99 USD per month, featuring a 7-day complimentary free trial.

8.2 Zero-Trust Security & Guest Billing Rules

To prevent unauthorized subscription spoofing or entitlement tampering:

• Mandatory Account Sign-In: Guest users cannot purchase or verify subscriptions. Tapping "Subscribe" in Guest Mode prompts authentication before initiating checkout.
• Server-Side Entitlement Verification: Purchases are validated server-side (/api/billing/verify-purchase) against the Google Play Developer API v3 using authenticated session tokens (JWTs). Direct client-side database mutations on membership tables are revoked.
• Server Purchase Acknowledgment: Subscription acknowledgment is handled strictly by our Next.js backend server within the mandated timeframe to prevent auto-refunds.

8.3 Renewal, Cancellation & Refunds

All transactions are processed through Google Play Billing (or Apple App Store on iOS).

• Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless canceled at least 24 hours prior to the renewal date.
• Cancellation Instructions: You may cancel your subscription at any time via Google Play Store: Google Play Store > Profile Icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > Odyssey Player > Cancel Subscription.
• Refund Policy: All subscription fee transactions, price adjustments, and refund requests are governed exclusively by Google Play Store policies.

8.4 In-App Advertisements

Non-subscribed users may see banner advertisements (Google AdMob) on library and media screens, or choose to watch optional rewarded video ads for extended playback features. Odyssey Plus subscribers automatically enjoy a completely ad-free experience across all features.

9. Intellectual Property Rights

The Odyssey Player name, official logos, brand graphics, visual designs, custom UI components, application source code, and associated documentation are the exclusive intellectual property of Odyssey Player / Odyssey Workshop and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and intellectual property laws.

All third-party trademarks, service marks, trade names, and logos displayed within the software belong to their respective owners. Open-source decoding frameworks (such as AndroidX Media3 / ExoPlayer) bundled within Odyssey Player are distributed in strict compliance with their respective open-source licenses.

10. DMCA & Copyright Policy

Odyssey Player respects the intellectual property rights of copyright holders. As a standalone local player utility, Odyssey Player does not host, stream, index, or store video content on remote servers.

If you believe that any web content hosted directly on our official website www.odysseyplayer.site infringes your copyright, you may submit a formal DMCA Notice of Infringement containing:

1. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
2. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its specific URL on our website.
3. Your contact details, including full name, physical address, telephone number, and email address.
4. A statement of good faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement made under penalty of perjury that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL ODYSSEY PLAYER, ODYSSEY WORKSHOP, ITS FOUNDERS, DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OR PARTNERS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR DEVICE MALFUNCTIONS ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR ACCESS TO, USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE THE APPLICATION OR SERVICES.

IN JURISDICTIONS THAT DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN DAMAGES, OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE GREATEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW OR THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU (IF ANY) FOR PURCHASING OR DOWNLOADING THE APPLICATION IN THE PRECEDING TWELVE (12) MONTHS.

13. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Odyssey Player, Odyssey Workshop, its developers, officers, directors, and agents against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:

• Your use of, or activities in connection with, the Services.
• Your violation of these Terms or any applicable laws or regulations.
• Your User Content, including any claims of copyright, trademark, or privacy infringement relating to media files or network stream feeds you decode or render.

14. Modifications & Service Termination

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify, update, replace, or discontinue the Services or any part thereof at any time. When changes to these Terms occur, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this document and publish the revised version on https://www.odysseyplayer.site/terms-and-conditions.

Your continued use of the application following the posting of any revisions constitutes your express acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

This Agreement and any dispute arising from or related to it shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the applicable jurisdiction, without giving effect to any conflict of law principles. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms shall first be attempted to be resolved through amicable, good-faith negotiation.
